Upper Provo River Falls

The Provo River is majestic in its origin. It bubbles up out of the ground near Mirror Lake and then starts its descent down sandstone carved into steps.  It is full of energy and motion, quite unlike the winding serenity later on in its journey through Provo Canyon. 

I have painted this area many times and never tire of the subject as it is different every time. This time I used someone else’s photo and it was specifically to help a her see how I would approach the subject matter.
